Tip Lift, Biomek®

The SAGIAN™ Tip Lift automatically indexes six columns of tip boxes arranged in a 2 ´ 3 array. This configuration was specifically designed to enable the automated laboratory transport system, such as the ORCA® Robotic Arm, to continually deliver tips to the deck of the Biomek® 2000 Laboratory Automation Workstation or the Multimek™ 96 Automated 96-Channel Pipettor.The lift can hold a maximum of ninety-six 200 µL or 50 µL tip boxes, or forty-two 1,000 µL tip boxes. When the final tip box on each level is removed, a sensor causes the platform supporting the tip boxes to rise until it detects the next level of tip boxes, thus presenting six more tip boxes to the automated robotic system. The SAGIAN™ Lid Disposal Station is a completely passive device which requires no actuation by the system for operation. A proximity sensor recognizes the arrival of the robot, accuating a vacuum solenoid, and the ORCA Robot lifts the tip box up to a suction cup pulling vacuum. The vacuum plunger adheres to the lid, and the robot removes the tip box or plate. As the robot leaves the station, the proximity sensor deactivates, thus turning off the vacuum and allowing the removed lid to fall into the waste container below.
