Stephanie Mitchell, PhD, D(ABMM)

Stephanie Mitchell, PhD, D(ABMM), is Senior Director, Medical and Scientific Affairs-Infectious Diseases and Microbiology at Beckman Coulter. She received her PhD in Molecular Microbiology from Tufts University and is board certified by the American Board of Medical Microbiology (ABMM) in Medical Microbiology.

Prior to joining Beckman Coulter, she served as Senior Director, Scientific Affairs at Cepheid and as the Medical Director of two full-service clinical microbiology laboratories at a large tertiary academic medical center. She also held dual appointments as Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School Medicine and the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health and remains Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine today.

Prior to her time in the clinical lab, Dr. Mitchell worked as a research scientist at the CDC-NCIRD, Division of Bacterial Disease, Respiratory Disease Branch, developing novel real time PCR diagnostics and also supported CDC’s response to the pandemic Influenza A H1N1 outbreak in 2009.
