The right workflow is essential for a clinical laboratory. An efficient workflow can support time and cost savings by helping to reduce steps and speed up operations. An Advantaged Workflow, on the other hand, goes farther—delivering these efficiencies in ways designed to support better clinical decision-making.
Advantaged Workflows in Action: Meet the NHLS Team
The laboratory team at National Health Laboratory Service (NHLS) Sebokeng in Gauteng, South Africa processes 4,000 to 5,000 samples per day, 3,500 of which are chemistry and immunoassay samples. Their essential work helps the NHLS provide diagnostic pathology services to over 80% of South Africa’s population.
In the past, older equipment and inefficient workflows made it difficult for the NHLS team to keep up with these testing volumes. When the lab upgraded to the DxA 5000 Total Lab Automation System in 2024, the team learned firsthand the benefits of Advantaged Workflows.
When we visited the lab recently, several team members shared their thoughts on how the right technology and processes have helped them make a greater impact for their organization and the communities they serve.1
