Powering Moments Potenza | Beckman Coulter

Moment of Need
Complexity Demands Change

Supporting patients across a mountainous region with geographically-dispersed healthcare facilities, the AOR San Carlo di Potenza team took a strategic step toward greater consistency and diagnostic confidence. By shifting from fragmented workflows to an integrated, automated approach, it enabled faster, more standardized testing while helping clinicians make informed decisions and improve patient outcomes.

Moment of Impact
Empowering Clinicians and Supporting Patients

Over the past three years, the CEDIA Laboratory has modernized its Core Lab through full integration of the DxA 5000 Total Lab Automation System, creating a more connected and automated laboratory environment. Combined with the high-performance capabilities of the DxI 9000 Immunoassay Analyzer, the laboratory has improved efficiency across the testing process. The result is a faster, more consistent workflow that helps clinicians access reliable diagnostic insights sooner, supporting informed decisions and improved patient care.

With Beckman Coulter, we were able to turn the future not into a possibility but into a certainty; the realization of a vision for a laboratory. An approach that places the patient, the clinician, and the individual—as someone with health needs—at the center. So I would say that the future is wide open, and it depends on us.

The moment when we brainstorm a clinical case, when we realize that our system has helped the clinician make decisions, it strikes me. And it strikes my entire team. So, every day I feel enriched both personally and professionally.

Spotlight on Cardiac Testing

When clinicians at AOR San Carlo di Potenza suspect cardiac events, quick and accurate troponin testing provides critical decision-making support. Using the Access hsTnI (high-sensitivity troponin I) assay, powered by the newly connected DxI 9000 analyzer and DxA 5000 laboratory automation system, the hospital has reduced troponin test turnaround times by 50%, from 22 minutes to 11 minutes.

I believe that our greatest ambition is to have a decisive impact on clinical decision-making. And so results like these are rewarding and motivating for us to continue embracing the opportunities presented by laboratory medicine, a field that has recently seen significant technological innovation, but which must certainly be accompanied by passion and motivation, with an eye toward the patient’s well-being.

Spotlight on Fertility Testing

The Reproductive Medicine Center at AOR San Carlo di Potenza serves ~3,000 couples per year—more than half of whom come from outside the region to seek their services. Anti-Müllerian hormone levels are important in helping assess each patient’s reproductive prognosis and inform medication dosages during their treatment.

Patients who come to us for medically-assisted reproduction entrust us with a dream, so our task is to help achieve a primary purpose of that couple’s existence. The doctor–patient relationship is fundamental. It is a relationship based on trust, and it is a relationship that has undergone significant changes over time. The patient arrives as a patient, but then becomes an integral part of our family, of our team.
