Dr. Dan Beriault is Head of Clinical Biochemistry and Specimen Management at Unity Health Toronto, as well as an Associate Professor at University of Toronto. Dr. Beriault was the past chair of the CSCC laboratory utilization interest group and is currently the Provincial Chair of clinical biochemistry for Ontario Health. His academic interests span the fields of endocrinology, toxicology and appropriate laboratory utilization.

Speaker Bio:
Dr. Olga Pozdnyakova is a distinguished specialist in hematopathology, with extensive clinical expertise in laboratory hematology, flow cytometry, and the diagnostic approach to hematologic disorders, including leukemias, lymphomas, myelomas, and mast cell disorders. After receiving an MD in Internal Medicine from Russian State Medical University and a PhD in Pediatric Hematology from the Federal Clinical Research Center in Moscow, Dr. Pozdnyakova pursued extensive postgraduate training, including residencies and fellowships at prestigious institutions such as Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Board-certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Hematopathology by the American Board of Pathology, Dr. Pozdnyakova has made significant contributions to research, focusing on developing new testing algorithms for hematologic neoplasms and discovering novel characteristics of hematopoietic cells for diagnostic and predictive modeling. Dr. Pozdnyakova has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Excellence in Urologic Pathology Research Award and the Partners in Excellence Award, and has been an integral part of the COVID-19 response team at Brigham & Women’s Hospital. With leadership roles in several professional organizations, including the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, the American Society for Clinical Pathology, and the College of American Pathologists, Dr. Pozdnyakova continues to contribute to advancing the field through education and research. She is committed to excellence in both clinical practice and academic leadership, demonstrated by a history of directing educational courses and involvement in key committees across multiple prestigious societies.

Dr. Sarah W. Bissonnette is a board-certified clinical chemist at Marshfield Clinic Health System-Sanford Health in Marshfield, WI, where she serves as a Laboratory Director, Section Head, Program Director, and Consultant. Dr. Bissonnette also serves as a faculty member in the MLS training program at Marshfield Medical Center. She completed both her PhD in Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology and her Clinical Chemistry fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dr. Bissonnette is a Diplomate of the American Board of Clinical Chemistry and an active member of the Association for Diagnostics and Laboratory Medicine and the Academy of Clinical Laboratory Physicians and Scientists. As a laboratory director at Marshfield Clinic Health System, Dr. Bissonnette plays an instrumental role in advancing laboratory medicine. Her work is driven by a commitment to clinical diagnostic innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration, with a deep passion for improving patient care.

It will explore the disease’s pathophysiology and the role of current and emerging blood-based biomarkers in diagnosis and monitoring, with attention to assay performance. The presentation will also examine the future of biomarker development and their integration into clinical practice.
Speaker Bio:
Jean-Sébastien Blanchet is a PhD-trained immunologist with a career focused on advancing diagnostic innovation to improve patient care. After early work in DNA vaccine development at GSK, Jean-Sebastien joined Beckman Coulter, where he’s led scientific, clinical, and health economic initiatives across Europe and globally. Currently serving as the Director of Global Medical and Scientific Affairs, he’s driving evidence generation for diagnostics in neurodegenerative and infectious diseases. Jean-Sébastien serves as Beckman Coulter’s representative to international bodies including the IFCC.

MDW is a hematology parameter developed by Beckman Coulter that can help identify patients with sepsis or those at an increased risk of developing sepsis within the first 12 hours of hospital admission. In this study, we present the health economic impact of implementing MDW testing for early sepsis detection in the emergency department, using real-world data from a U.S. emergency department.
Speaker Bio:
Lopamudra Das is the Director of Health Economics and Outcomes Research at Beckman Coulter. With ten years of experience in consulting and diagnostics, she has successfully led numerous Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) projects across various therapeutic areas. Lopamudra holds a PhD from the RAND Graduate School and a Master’s in Public Health from San Diego State University.
