From the time Dr. Arnold Beckman was tinkering in his garage until now, innovation has been at the heart of our company. Excellence in Innovation is a global recognition program that acknowledges the many pioneering teams and inventors that bring Beckman Coulter products to life.

Innovation has been perceived as a bastion of research and development, something that only scientists engage in. We reject that narrow definition. Innovation can happen in all parts of the organization, from engagement activities to marketing programs to associate development and much more.

Further, we believe innovation is not a one-team sport. Innovation by all maximizes our human potential by tapping into every associate’s intelligence, skills and passion.

Established in 2005, our Excellence in Innovation program has become more than just a tool for recognition; it’s a way to solve problems across the organization. The awards are prestigious, and Fiona Adair, vice president of innovation and strategy, invites associates to submit their innovations for the awards.

Says Fiona, “I tell associates not to hesitate to nominate themselves and others. I frequently find that true innovators don’t see that they are innovative—they do it because it is part of who they are. Therefore, to find our innovators, we need to look for [innovation] and celebrate it.”
