Dual Lenses on Diagnostic Stewardship: Syndromic Molecular Testing and Phenotypic ID/AST

Thursday, June 4, 1:00-1:45 (Room 150AB)

Diagnostic stewardship demands precision at every step, through every result reported and every test ordered. This workshop examines two independent pillars of the clinical microbiology laboratory: syndromic molecular GI panel testing and phenotypic ID/AST. Through case-based discussion and expert commentary, attendees will explore how each platform shapes test utilization, reflex testing decisions, and reporting practices. Topics include algorithm design, turnaround time impact, cascade reporting, and ASP collaboration. Practical takeaways applicable across academic, community, and reference laboratory settings.
