Drug Monitoring and Detection

Delivering High-Quality, Quick Results and Workflow Efficient Solutions Meet on-site testing demands for drugs-of-abuse detection and therapeutic drug monitoring

Improving patient care is an important focus for every healthcare professional. One way to improve the care of a patient with a health concern is through drug therapy. Therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) is used to ensure drug levels are maintained within a specific therapeutic range to maximize the drug's clinical effect and minimize its adverse effects.

Drugs can also be abused, often with harmful consequences. An estimated 247 million people worldwide used illicit drugs at least once in the past year and 29 million of whom suffer from drug-use disorders. Yet, only one out of every six people with a drug-use disorder is in treatment1. Laboratories can support care for patients with drug abuse concerns with a drugs of abuse (DAT) testing program that detects a range of substances.

With our broad and comprehensive TDM and DAT menus, enhanced by the proven SYVA® Enzyme Multiplied Immunoassay Technique (EMIT® ) assays, you can consolidate testing and experience the flexibility to choose the right instrument and reagent combination to suit your laboratory's on-site requirements

Combine Specificity and Sensitivity of Immunoassay with Speed and Reproducibility of Enzyme Measurements Discover SYVA EMIT technology

SYVA EMIT technology involves a homogeneous enzyme immunoassay technique used for the analysis of specific compounds in biological fluids. The assay is based on competition between the drug in the sample and a drug labeled with the enzyme glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PDH) for antibody binding sites. Enzyme activity decreases upon binding to the antibody, so the drug concentration in the sample can be measured in terms of enzyme activity. Active enzyme converts oxidized nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) to NADH, resulting in an absorbance change that is measured spectrophotometrically.

  • Excellent correlation to GC/MS reference methods, giving laboratories confidence in reported results to the clinicians
  • Fast reaction time of 8.5 minutes provides quick turnaround time for patients with critical care needs

Achieve Ease Of Implementation and Workflow Efficiency

  • Ready-to-use, all-liquid reagents and calibrators reduce the labor associated with reagent replenishment tasks
  • Pre-filled, ready-to-load barcoded reagent bottles minimize daily startup time
  • Optimized parameters for the AU480/680/5800/DxC 700 AU family of chemistry analyzers ensure reliable results
  • CLIA categorization ensures accurate and precise results
  • Enhanced formulation minimizes common moderately complex interferences from hemolysis, bilirubin and lipemia and provides high quality of results, which can improve physician satisfaction
